Philadelphia Phillies Top Prospects of 2017
The Philadelphia Phillies did not have high expectations for the 2016 season and were predicted to dwell in the basement of the NL East. Those predictions were correct as the Phillies finished 2016 with a 71-91 record and 24 games back of 1st place. The Phils came in 4th, only ahead of the rebuilding Braves. The season started off pretty good for the Phillies, going 14-10 in April, but that success would not last. They would start to freefall and find themselves in losing streak after losing streak. They just never found their groove and finished near the bottom of the NL East. The season did not come without some positives, though, as they found some young, solid pieces that will be a part of the rebuild. Center fielder Odubel Herrera showed what he was capable of and is now the Phillies’ future center fielder, Tommy Joseph had a solid season, and some other young guys showed they are Major League quality.
